Understanding In-Store Shopper Behavior in Urban Retail

Case studies

The Company Background

A leading European fashion and retail conglomerate known for its trend-forward, fast fashion brands. With a strong urban presence, the brand seeks to optimize in-store experiences through real-time consumer feedback.

The Brief

Together with a trusted market research agency, the company turned to Q2Q Global to execute recruitment and fieldwork activities. The project required same-day recruitment of 32 participants—16 in each of two cities—for ethnographic interviews conducted inside retail stores. Fieldwork was to begin within 2–3 days of recruitment in each city.

The Solution

This project showcased Q2Q Global’s ability to move at the speed of retail—without compromising depth or detail. Within hours of kickoff, Q2Q deployed local intercept teams skilled in rapid rapport-building and familiar with the shopping culture of each city. Trained to work discreetly within bustling store environments, the teams recruited and interviewed participants on-site, capturing spontaneous, in-the-moment shopper behaviors. More than just interviewers, Q2Q’s team acted as cultural translators—reading contextual cues, adapting probes in real time, and surfacing nuances that traditional methodologies often miss. The entire engagement was managed with seamless coordination, clear client communication, and full transparency. Drawing from years of experience conducting live retail ethnographies, Q2Q synthesized findings into a cohesive 4-day turnaround report. This gave the client a clear, immediate window into consumer thinking—fueling store experience improvements grounded in real-world observation. It was immersive research, done with precision and purpose.
